SPRINGFIELD — The lawyer for Marcus Thomas on Wednesday asked a judge to reduce his client’s bail to $5,000 on multiple gun and armed assault charges.
Thomas had been held without right to bail until Wednesday’s hearing in Hampden Superior Court.
Last week Judge Edward J. McDonough allowed a motion to dismiss a second degree murder charge against Thomas in the death of his friend, 20-year-old Tavis Humphrey-Frazer.
Defense lawyer Paul Rudof argued since the prosecution was seeking to appeal McDonough’s ruling dismissing the murder count, an appeal could take up to a year and and “it isn’t fair for Mr. Thomas to sit in jail.”
