Peter focuses his practice in the areas of personal injury, civil rights, and criminal defense. He is an experienced litigator who has conducted numerous civil and criminal jury trials in both state and federal court. In terms of criminal defense, Peter handles a wide variety of cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. He has a proven track record of achieving great results for his clients by negotiating favorable plea deals, winning motions to dismiss and to suppress evidence, and obtaining acquittals at trial.
On the civil side, Peter has negotiated countless favorable monetary settlements for his clients. When settlement is not an option, Peter does not hesitate to file suit. Most notably, in the case of Bradley v. Cicero et al., 3:18-CV-30039-MGM Peter secured a substantial jury verdict against two police officers who had committed numerous civil rights violations against his client, including excessive force, unlawful arrest, and malicious prosecution. This verdict led directly to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court’s decision in Commonwealth v. McFarlane, 493 Mass. 385, 393 (2024), where the Court expanded the duty prosecutors have to disclose exculpatory information regarding their police witnesses to the defense. The McFarlane decision has had a broad and significant impact upon criminal practice in Massachusetts. Peter has also briefed and argued several complex civil cases before the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
On a personal level, Peter is one of the few Russian-speaking attorneys in the area. During his undergraduate education at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, Peter reconnected with his family’s roots by spending a year abroad studying Physics and Russian at the Belarusian State University in Minsk, Belarus. Peter takes great pride in providing quality legal representation to the ever-growing Russian-speaking community of Western Massachusetts.
